Zakat
Comprehensive zakat calculator, nisab thresholds, and purification tracker
Important Notes
- Zakat is due only on wealth held for one full lunar year (hawl).
- Only deduct debts due now or within the coming year (e.g. your next mortgage/loan payment) — NOT the entire outstanding balance of a long-term mortgage or student loan. Deducting a full long-term balance wrongly lowers your zakat.
- Your primary residence, personal vehicle, and household items are NOT zakatable.
- Scholars differ on whether the gold or silver standard should be used for nisab. The silver standard results in a lower threshold, so more people pay zakat. For help choosing, we recommend asking your local scholar.
- This calculator helps you estimate zakat. For guidance specific to your situation, we recommend consulting a qualified scholar.
