When a man was about to travel, ‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) would say: "Come close so I may bid you farewell as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to bid us farewell. He would say: 'I entrust to Allah your religion, your trusts, and the final deeds of your life.'" ‘Abdullāh ibn Yazīd al-Khaṭmi (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah, when he saw off an army, used to say: "I entrust to Allah your religion, your trusts, and the final deeds of your lives."
